Mike’s Musings …

The Northern Lights

The Aurora Borealis, aka “Northern Lights,” is an amazing work of Jehovah. Seeing this animated display of God’s design is a view you’ll never forget, should you be fortunate enough to observe this beautiful sight. If nothing else, the awesome view proves the statement of the psalmist, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.” (Psalm 19:1-2)

Though I’ve not been where I could observe them this year (yet), it has been a long-lasting memory to have witnessed this glorious display of God’s design from the highest point in Morgan County, Ohio. In the quiet of the night, far from man-made lights, we sat in the car atop the “Rim of the World,” and imagined we heard a type of strange music accompanying the brilliant display as it danced across the night sky. Only God could paint such a mural and bring it to life before our eyes!

At God’s appointed time (Acts 17:31), another sight will appear; one every eye shall see, and to which every knee shall bow and every tongue confess (Revelation 1:7; Romans 14:11). The sight will be brief (1 Corinthians 15:51 – 58), but its results eternal. Those prepared for His return will rejoice; those unprepared will tremble, weep, and cry, but find no sympathy from the One who judges our souls (John 5:22). I muse on how fascinating that sight shall be, and the thrill for those prepared to appreciate His return. As John said, “Even so come, Lord Jesus!”
