What More Can Be Said?

Words have meaning, and their emotional delivery influences the recipient in either a positive or negative way. Our words are our chief means of communication, and communication should always be clear and distinct. (1 Corinthians 2:4; 2 Corinthians 3:12; Titus 2:8) Sadly, some are “dull of hearing” (Matthew 15:13; Acts 28:37), meaning that regardless of the clarity of our words, the recipient refuses to hear! When this occurs, what more can be said?

To God’s word, we can neither add nor subtract (Deuteronomy 4:2; Revelation 22:18-19). Yet, despite the warnings, souls believe that they have some empirical right to alter its exactness to suit their whimsical fancies. Worse, they expect the Author to accept these changes without complaint or reprisal. When this happens, i.e., the combination of dullness of hearing, and consciences seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:2), what more can be said?

As a wise preacher once said, “If that sharp two-edged sword doesn’t pierce their hearts, then nothing else can.” Faithful ones adhere to God’s word for everything they say and do (Colossians 3:16-17), including teaching the wayward and lost! If God’s word isn’t enough to persuade them to obedience, what more can be said?

I muse on how frequently souls have heard the saving power of God (Romans 1:16-17) and still reject it repeatedly! We weep for their souls, still lost and undone. But if they continually reject the message of salvation, the eternal harm is their fault, and yet we ponder, what more can be said?
